GST e-Way Bill software
Rechvix prepares a government-compliant e-Way Bill upload from your finalized invoice — free by default (no paid API required), with real validation before a file is ever generated. Part of GST billing software that’s free and self-hosted.
Two ways to generate an e-Way Bill
Free government-portal assistant (default). Rechvix prepares the upload file from your invoice’s already-finalized data, and opens the official government e-Way Bill portal in a new, unproxied tab. You go to e-Waybill → Generate Bulk, upload the file, and enter the e-Way Bill number you’re given back into Rechvix. No paid API account, no third-party GSP subscription.
Direct API generation. If your business has its own NIC e-Way Bill API credentials, Rechvix can call the government API directly instead.
Validated before it's ever prepared
Before a file is generated, Rechvix checks for and blocks on:
- A vehicle number and transport distance
- A resolvable ship-to state (falls back to the invoice’s place of supply when there’s no separate shipping address on file, rather than leaving it blank)
- Your business’s own GSTIN and PIN code, in a valid format
- A valid Indian vehicle-registration format on the vehicle number entered
- A numeric HSN/SAC code on every line item
- The taxable value plus tax actually reconciling with the invoice’s grand total
- CGST+SGST vs. IGST matching the actual supplier/place-of-supply state comparison — catching the specific, real mistake of an inter-state sale getting taxed as if it were local
Each of these surfaces as a plain-language “needs information” message on the invoice screen, not a cryptic rejection after upload.
What the generated file contains
Supply type, document type/number/date, supplier and recipient GSTIN and state, ship-to details when they differ from the billing party, the tax breakdown (taxable value, CGST/SGST/IGST/cess), item-level HSN codes and quantities, and transport details (vehicle number, distance, transporter). Fields the government schema defines as numeric — state codes, PIN codes, tax amounts, HSN code, quantity — are sent as JSON numbers, not quoted text, matching the actual government API/bulk-tool schema rather than a guessed format.
One honest limit, stated plainly rather than glossed over: the exact wrapper structure the government portal’s own Excel-to-JSON bulk tool expects for uploading multiple e-Way Bills in a single file hasn’t been independently confirmed against an official sample — Rechvix’s per-document JSON format is verified; if bulk upload of several files at once ever behaves unexpectedly on the portal, uploading one invoice’s file at a time through the same “Generate e-Way Bill” JSON option is the reliable fallback today.
GST e-Way Bill — frequently asked questions
An e-Way Bill is a document required under India's GST law for the movement of goods above a certain consignment value — it records what's being transported, from where to where, and by what vehicle/transporter. The exact value threshold and specific exemptions are set by CBIC/GST notifications and can vary by state; check the official e-Way Bill portal (ewaybillgst.gov.in) for the current rule that applies to your transaction rather than relying on any single software vendor's summary, including this one.
